Prof. William Gumede gave a guest lecture on the 28th of January, 2014, at an open session on the political economy of infrastructure investment in SA. William Gumede is Associate Professor, Graduate School of Public & Development Management, University of the Witwatersrand; Senior Associate & Program Director, Africa Asia Centre, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Between 2009-2013 he was Advisor to the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA). He was the lead advisor, setting up the DBSA’s new Project Preparation Fund; was the lead advisor for the Presidential Review Committee on State-Owned Enterprises; and lead advisor setting up the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO), as per the terms of the 2008 Money Bills Amendment Act. His latest book is South Africa in BRICS: Salvation or Ruination (Tafelberg).
